Goji berry (Lycium barbarum), also known as the wolfberry, is regarded by locals as “longevity fruit”. Goji berry is a good source of nutrients, including carotenoid antioxidants such as B-carotene and zeaxanthin – important in healthy eye function; and betaine (an important co factor in a number of metabolic processes). Antioxidants protect the body from harmful effects of free radicals and oxidative damage. Antioxidants are reported to play an import part in promoting good health. Goji is a source of prebiotics called LBPs – Lycium Barbarum polysaccharides. These polysaccharides support the growth of beneficial Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains for a healthy digestive system
