Cartia helps prevent blood clotting and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with known cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease. The enteric coating on Cartia tablets prevents the aspirin from being released in your stomach where it could cause gastric upsets. The aspirin is released lower down in the intestines, where it is absorbed gradually in the blood stream.
